Buying a Nerf gun for Christmas?
Eye injuries are not something that gets talked about regularly. Which may lead you to believe that they are an uncommon occurrence. This is not the case, actually accidental eye injuries happen quite regularly. Both at home, out and about and at work. 90% of eye injuries are preventable. So how do we go about protecting our vision?
Eye injuries certainly aren’t limited to adults, I also see children with eye injuries. From the fairly standard being poked in the eye (which can result in a nasty scratch to the front of the eye). To serious injuries that have resulted from an impact injury from a small projectile. Such as a squash ball or a Nerf bullet.
It is so simple to prevent these types of accidents from occurring, by purchasing eye protection for your child and making a no safety glasses, no play.
We also have a do not shot the head policy in our house. This has significantly reduced the number of eye injuries happening at home.
Should you or your child happen to have an impact injury, please go and visit an eye care professional. An Optometrist or a GP as either of these will refer you to a Opthalmologist should it be necessary.
