Netball and eye safety
It was my daughters last netball game for the season on Saturday. It was a round robin format – which means that the games only lasted 10 minutes and we have to keep following the team from court to court. Being that she has only just started playing netball this year and the team is quite young. They switch the positions on the court, around every game, this is to try and give them exposure to all of the positions, so they can determine which area they are best suited for.
I am so proud of the effort my daughter put in for these last 4 games (or the 3 that she was able to play, as her team has 10 players). She was constantly moving, trying to get away from her defender to get the ball. She also did a bounce pass (that actually got to the right player), she scored a goal (she might have had about 7 opportunities and only converted 1), but she was trying really hard.
So I am proud of her effort, energy and perseverance, but also for the fact she wore her Progear Eyeguard sports goggles for the whole season and she was the only one in her team of 10 that wore anymore sun/eye protection other than the soft visor.
I know it isn’t easy for a kid to be the only one wearing something, namely being different (and she doesn’t even need them to see). So, yes I am proud of her on many fronts. I found netball to be a great team sport, with it also being fun for the parents and family to watch.
Please get your kids outside, teams sports are brilliant, but also think about their sun protection and eye safety.
